Overview
Grouting the connection is a critical phase in installing the foundation. There is no room for failure in this process.
Our grout seal is a project specific design to seal variable gaps between transition piece and monopile, jacket pile and jacket leg. All seal designs are based on empirical methods and detailed design is verified through finite element analyses (FEA). To qualify the design performance, all designs are subjected to an extensive test program. The grout seal carries the weight of the entire grout column (typical height 11 – 15 meters) during curing. After curing the grout forms a strong and stiff connection and a stable foundation for the tower and turbine to be installed. During the lifetime, which to date is typically specified for at least 27 years, the seal remains part of the structure to prevent the grout from washing out.
