Sealing Solutions for Pumps in Food Processing
They facilitate pump operation, accommodating fluid viscosity variations to ensure smooth movement and effective sealing regardless of the handled product. Sanitary designs are vital to prevent contamination of the fluids and must be able to withstand harsh chemicals, steam, and heat used in CIP/SIP processes. Seals must facilitate a smooth and pulseless flow rate, operate under varying temperatures, and offer a long service life to minimize downtime for maintenance.

Turcon® Roto Variseal®
The Turcon® Roto Variseal® seals the drive shaft and keeps the food material inside the casing to be pumped by the impeller thought the discharge nozzle, usually under high pressures. It offers outstanding low friction properties, effectively eliminating stick-slip and ensuring a smooth performance. Its excellent resistance to extrusion and wear makes it suitable for high-pressure environments. Crafted from our proprietary Turcon® polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), this seal is compatible with a wide range of chemicals and suitable for use in higher temperatures and with high surface speeds. HiClean™ and Ultra-Clean™ versions are available when the ultimate in cleanliness is required.O-Ring
O-Rings are standard static components, typically made of rubber or other flexible materials that seal lids, flange joints, threads, and covers. They provide an effective and reliable sealing solution between two mating surfaces or components. In a vertical mixer, they keep internal lubrication from leaking to the food contact area while preventing any food materials like flour and other potential airborne particles from contaminating the system.
When unique parts are needed, engineered molded elastomeric parts are designed and customized according to the equipment's dimensions and tolerances, balancing a perfect fit and ease of installation.
In centrifugal pumps, Back-up Rings are used to extend the performance and minimize the risk of damage to O-Rings and Quad-Ring® seals/X-Rings. They prevent gap extrusion, which improves the pressure resistance and durability of the sealing element. These rings come in various designs and materials to match different operating conditions.
Radial Oil Seal
Radial oil seals are mounted along the drive shaft at the front of the gearbox. Featuring a dust lip, they ensure smooth operation of the pump and prevent leakage of the lubricant from the rotor. These seals are produced with food contact compliant FoodPro® materials.
Molded Gasket
Engineered molded elastomeric gaskets seal between the pump casing and the cover of the lobe pump to prevent leakage of the food product. They are custom-designed to match housing geometries and tolerances, as well as other special requirements. Gaskets are produced in our range of FoodPro® ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM) materials, specially formulated compounds for food and beverage applications.
O-Ring & Back-up Ring
In lobe pumps, each lobe is attached to the rotor using a thread. The O-Ring forms a barrier, ensuring no residual lubrication contacts the food product.
Back-up Rings are installed with O-Rings to prevent gap extrusion, increasing the sealing element's pressure resistance and service life. They are available in multiple designs and materials to match the operating conditions.
