Celebrates Grand Opening, Will Add New Jobs
Local composite manufacturing company expands in Niskayuna, provides in-depth look at advanced technologies
NISKAYUNA, NY (July 14, 2016) – Automated Dynamics celebrated its grand opening Wednesday, July 13, 2016. As a result of the company’s continued growth, it has recently moved in to a new 30,000 square-foot building in the Niskayuna Commerce Park on Hillside Ave. in Niskayuna, NY. The modern facility will support the company’s expansion strategy as their client base advances globally.
“We are thrilled to be here in Niskayuna,” says company president, Rob Langone, “And honored by the turn-out for our Grand Opening. This building provides for our business needs now and over the next few years. It offers our employees a minimal change in commute over our last location and provides customers with a site that is fitting of the products and services we deliver.”
Along with the expansion, Automated Dynamics will be increasing their workforce by more than 60% over the next five years. New jobs will be added in Sales and Engineering, as well as on the manufacturing floor. This year has already seen the addition of sales staff and a new machine technician, along with two full-time interns. Automated Dynamics is currently looking to add another technician and have an open position for a Sales Representative in the Aerospace market.
To support Automated Dynamics’ expansion, Empire State Development will provide up to $300,000 in performance-based Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits in return for the creation of 20 new full-time positions and retention of 30 current employees.
“Making strategic investments that spur economic development and job creation has been a top priority for this administration since day one, and because of the Governor’s support for these efforts, it’s paying off,” said Empire State Development President, CEO, and Commissioner Howard Zemsky. “The Capital Region is moving in the right direction: Unemployment is down to 3.7 percent, from over 7 percent in 2012, and the expansion of Automated Dynamics is generating new economic opportunity in Schenectady County. We look forward to seeing the creation of even more jobs as the company continues to grow.”
Several local leaders were in attendance and spoke in support of the company. The list includes Joe Landry (Niskayuna Town Supervisor), Rory Fluman (Schenectady County Legislator), Phil Steck (NY State Assembly Member), Jim Tedisco (NY State Assembly Member), Mike Yevoli (Regional Director of Empire State Development), Ray Gillen (Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority Chairman), and David Buicko (CEO of Galesi Group).
The new site also provides great opportunity for Automated Dynamics. The layout was specifically designed for their manufacturing capabilities, and the efficiency of the current facility offers a significant upgrade over the building they had occupied in Schenectady since the early nineties.
Automated Dynamics has been in the capital region since their beginning as part of RPI’s incubator program in 1984. In 1990, they found a home in what was previously the American Locomotive Company on Front Street in Schenectady, before moving this year. The company manufactures advanced composite parts and creates custom robotic equipment for automated composites manufacturing. They use a unique additive manufacturing process, working with continuous carbon-fiber and glass-fiber composite materials, thus enabling design of parts that are both stronger and drastically lighter than traditional materials such as metals. For these reasons, Automated Dynamics’ clients tend to be within high performance industries such as the aerospace, oil & gas, and automotive sectors.
